On the Providence River in Rhode Island, to the right, Manchester Street Power Station, owned by Dominion Resources. In operation since 1903, it was renovated in 1996. It produces enough electricity to power about 112,000 homes, using natural gas as its fuel.
To the left, the modern Providence River Bridge - also known as the Iway Bridge. Opened in 2007, it gained national recognition for its unique approach constructing the Iway Bridge offsite and floating it into place from the Quonset Business Park. It is the widest and first three-arch network arch bridge in the U.S. It is the first with a skew angle in the world.
In the forefront, houseboats and boats are docked on the river.
